Our Story

Company Leads was founded on 14th March 2012 by Daniel Hartwood and Sarah Connelly, two former sales directors who had grown frustrated watching UK businesses haemorrhage budget on marketing activity that could not be tied to real commercial outcomes.

Daniel had spent nine years in B2B sales leadership roles across the financial services and technology sectors, watching marketing teams generate impressive-looking reports filled with impressions, reach, and click-through rates — while sales pipelines remained dangerously thin. Sarah had a background in performance marketing and had seen first-hand how the gap between marketing activity and sales results was one of the most persistent and costly problems facing UK businesses of every size.

Their answer was Company Leads — an agency built from the ground up on a single principle: the only marketing outcome that matters to a business owner is a qualified customer enquiry. Everything else is noise.

Starting from a shared office space in Leeds city centre with a team of four, Company Leads grew rapidly throughout its early years by delivering something the market had largely failed to provide — lead generation campaigns that were measured, reported, and optimised exclusively against enquiry volumes and cost per lead. Word spread quickly. By 2015, the team had grown to 22 people and the company had expanded its service offering from purely SEO-led lead generation to a fully integrated multi-channel approach encompassing PPC, Meta Ads, email outreach, and telemarketing.

Today, Company Leads employs over 60 specialists across its Leeds headquarters and a second office in Bristol, with remote team members operating from locations across the UK. We have delivered lead generation campaigns for businesses in every corner of the country and remain as focused on commercial outcomes today as we were on day one.

Daniel Hartwood — Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer Daniel founded Company Leads in 2012 following nearly a decade in senior sales leadership roles across financial services and B2B technology. His obsession with connecting marketing spend directly to revenue outcomes drove the creation of Company Leads’ performance-led model and remains the philosophy at the heart of everything the business does. Daniel oversees overall strategy, client relationships, and business development.

Sarah Connelly — Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer Sarah co-founded Company Leads with a background in performance marketing and a deep understanding of the gap between marketing activity and sales results. She leads the operational delivery of all client campaigns and is responsible for the processes, standards, and quality controls that ensure Company Leads consistently delivers on its promises. Sarah is also the driving force behind the agency’s award-winning campaign methodology.

Marcus Webb — Head of SEO & Organic Lead Generation Marcus joined Company Leads in 2014 as its third employee and has built the SEO function from the ground up into one of the most effective organic lead generation operations in the UK. With over 15 years of experience in technical SEO and content strategy, Marcus leads a team of 14 SEO specialists and has overseen campaigns that have generated tens of thousands of qualified enquiries for clients across more than 20 industries.

Priya Sharma — Head of Paid Media Priya leads Company Leads’ PPC and Meta Ads capability, bringing 11 years of paid media experience across Google Ads, Meta Business Suite, and Microsoft Advertising. She joined the company in 2017 and has since built a paid media team responsible for managing several million pounds of annual ad spend on behalf of clients, with a consistent track record of delivering cost-per-lead figures significantly below industry averages.

Tom Gallagher — Head of Client Success Tom joined Company Leads in 2016 and has been the driving force behind the company’s 94% client retention rate.
